Creating a smokey eye with Next's A/W Make Up!Sunday, August 05, 2012
You should know by now that I do love a good old smokey eye, I sometimes even wear one in the daytime because I am wild. When Next got in contact with me to ask if I'd take part in a little blogger challenge using some of their new A/W beauty range, I was intrigued to see what it was like. I was told I could re create a smokey eye and if my video won the competition, I could win some goodies for myself and to give away on this blog. It was a no brainier if I'd have a go! Okay so some of you may already seen this video already, so apologies for that, if this is case well I thought I'd add a little more to this post and do a little round up review of the Next products that I used. I was sent an eye palette called Golden which featured four eye shadows ranging from a white, light brown, shimmery brown and a dark brown. There was also a bronze lip gloss which didn't really float my boat so that wasn't touched. I was quite impressed with the pigment of the eye shadows and thought that Aztec which was the dark brown worked pretty well. I felt there could of maybe been a proper gold/bronze colour in this palette or a champagne instead of a bright white. I used the colours Amber, Bronze and Aztec on my eyes to create a smokey day time look. Next up was mascara which is my favourite product from the Next beauty collection because it's a bloomin' amazing mascara. Yes I wasn't expecting that either. I may even prefer it to my Benefit They're Real mascara.. I know, I bet you just fell of your seat didn't you?
The volumising mascara makes your lashes long, thick and black which is what any one wants from a mascara. Seriously impressed and it's seriously cheap, I think it's on the £4/5 mark! What a bargain! All run down to Next at once. The face products the bronzer and blush were very typical of shop beauty products, not that pigmented and quite shimmery. Fine if you're not mad on make up and just want something to do the job but for the beauty enthusiasts like myself who have had nightmares about shimmery bronzers, they might be worth giving a miss. They're still very cheap though and they're not too shimmery, more a sunkissed shimmer. Then finally we have the lip glosses, the high shine lipgloss is pretty, I like the nudey colour which gives a sheer nude swash on your lips. The gloss smells nice and again is very purse friendly! Over all some products wowed me from the Next collection and some didn't. If you want to see them in action you can in the video below :)
