Well I'm sure you're probably all a little bored of me yapping on about my holiday, but who knew they could provide so much for beauty bloggers like me to talk about? Well today I'm going to talk about my holiday make up, the make up I wore when I was away and what I'm wearing now I'm back in grey old England. Whenever I go on holiday, I always find that my make up routine dramatically shortens, I go from spending fifteen minutes in the mirror to five. When I was in New York, my make up wasn't that much different to what it was back home, after all there was the possibility that at any given point I might bump into Ed Westwick so I couldn't be unprepared. However whilst in the big apple I did ditch the eyeliner and three weeks later, no liner has touched my waterline! Could this mean I have finally gotten over my lined waterline addiction? Maybe! However once I got to Orlando, the weather was hotter and I soon realised that walking round theme parks in thirty plus degree heat with a full face of make up just wasn't going to happen. So with me getting some colour on my face, it meant I was more confident with less make up, so out went the slap!
I still wanted some coverage so I still turned to my Estee Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation for problem areas on my face as I was getting over a pretty bad breakout, this when buffed in looks really natural and is really long wearing which is something you need when spending ten hour days in parks such as Universal. Next I needed powder, as much as I don't really like the whole powdered look, oily skin and heat do not work well together so this Bourjois Healthy Balance powder was always taken everywhere with me for quick top ups throughout the day. I also would apply a little bronzer, because well I feel a bit naked without a dusting of my Bobbi Brown bronzer. In the day I'd leave it there for my base make up but in the evenings I would add some blush and highlighter. My blush of choice was at the beginning Illasmasqua's Lover blush but then as soon as I got Tarte's Tipsy, nothing else has touched my cheeks since. This provides a real gorgeous corally/peachy/pink swash of colour that works so, so well with a tan! Then to add a little sunkissed glow, I'd pop some of Benefit's Sunbeam* on my nose, cheek and brow bones. I love this highlighter, it's like sunshine in a bottle!
Next to the eyes, my smokey eye soon got ditched and when I was on holiday I realised I'm getting bored of my Naked palette, I know who'd of thought it? This meant I turned to my Bobbi Brown Eyes palette and used Champagne Quartz which is a pale metallic gold all over my lid and then mahogany which is a dark brown on my lash line so my lashes look thicker! This was just enough for holiday eyes, I'd then add lots of mascara and my choices were Benefit's They're Real* (which I forgot to photograph grrr) and Look Beauty's Stretch Factor* both of these are really long wearing and don't budge! This is essential when wearing mascara esp if you're planning on going on water rides like I did! I then finally would tidy my brows up with an Accessorize brow pencil, which I love! Finally for lips, in the day I'd just add a little gloss from Carmex which had a SPF in to protect my lips. For the evening, I'd rotate from MAC Shy Girl or my Victoria's Secret lipstick in Heartbeat, since I've been home I've rediscovered YSL Rouge Volupte's Nude Beige!
Now I'm home, I've only added a couple of things into my routine, these are the Laura Mercier Oil Free tinted moisturiser and some liquid liner on my lash line. The tinted moisturiser, I really like but after a couple of weeks of being foundation free, it's taken a little getting used to again! Also using my new liner brush from Real Techniques means that I can finally use liquid liner on my lash line and not have it take up my whole eye! So there we have it, my holiday make up. I do love holiday make up, it's so much more relaxed and you can't beat the feeling of having some natural colour on your face! I'd better go get ready for work now so I hope you all have a lovely Saturday :)
