My Favourite Dewy Foundations..Monday, March 04, 2013
So you should probably know that I'm not really a matte foundation kinda girl. I used to be. But not anymore, bring on the dewiness.. That being said, usually having oily skin and wearing a dewy foundation can be a bit of a disaster waiting to happen. But after a good 18 months of testing out different radiance inducing foundations, I feel I've finally got a few that I can rely on to make me look all glowy. If you've got oily skin like I have, I'd recommend using a good moisturiser and primer before applying a foundation. My favourites are either the Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream or La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat and primer I like The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser primer. Both help to keep the shine at bay and carry Rimmel Stay Matte powder for any touch up's needed during the day. So with the oil under control.. let's get our glow on.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser: Oil Free Version: I picked this bad boy up in Miami after hearing many a good review on this tinted moisturiser. As well as ditching the matte foundations, I've also ditched the full coverage ones. I'm much more a fan of the fresh ' I barely look like I've tried, cause my skin is just this radiant naturally' look. The Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser is low/medium coverage and comes in a oil free version which is the one I have. Don't worry fellow oily skinned gals, Laura has it covered for us. I just love the effect it gives, a glowy, dewy complexion that just looks really natural. It feels light on your skin and was my go to base last summer. I know that this summer and well right now I've already started reaching for this dewy goodness in a tube. It is quite pricey but when you get 50ml it's going to last a good while.
YSL Touche Eclat Foundation: Oh I've got a goody here. When I first tried this back last summer, I wasn't wowed. I left the sample rattling around in my make up bag and then Autumn came along. My skin started to dry up and look rather lifeless. I picked up the sample and well it was then love. This has been my go to winter foundation, a pretty perfect shade match B50 meant it was perfect for my fake tanning days and even when I was a little paler.. all I'd need was a bit of a bronzer. It's medium coverage but just makes your skin look amazing. When wearing this with a full coverage concealer in just the places you need, your skin looks flawless. But it still looks glowy and radiant. It's helped me out many a day when my skin has looked a bit rough. It lasts pretty much all day and if you prime your skin before hand, it's not too shiny for oily skin. I would say this foundation is best for dry/normal skin, but if you're itching to try and have oily skin, then dig your primer and powder out. All in all, I love this foundation, I'm so happy to of finally found the perfect winter foundation.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation: This is a great little drugstore foundation, it's something I used gosh back in the day. Probably when I was just starting blogging and I remember I loved it. But then I just didn't re purchase (you know what us beauty bloggers are like..) It's a great low/medium coverage dewy foundation that costs under a tenner. The fruity scent isn't to everyone's taste, I think it smells like a yogurt which is weird, but you kind of get over it. It may be a bit dodgy for anyone who is prone to breakouts as it is heavily scented but it might be a worth a try. It leaves you with a glowy, natural look which is fab for a drugstore foundation. It also lasts all day. I've been currently trying another drugstore foundation which fits into the dewy box.. but more on that soon!
So there we have it, my favourite dewy foundations. Of course I want more to add to the list, I'm gunning for the Nars Tinted Moisturiser next.. after all it's Millie Mac's current one of choice and you all know I'm desperate to copy her dewy glowy complexion! I hope you all had a great weekend, I'm coming to the end of my time off work (sob sob) it's been nice being a lady of leisure but now it's time for me to get back to dressing people. Haha. See you soon :)
