I do love being tanned, there’s just something about being all bronzed that makes me feel more confident and well makes me feel like me. But when summer waves goodbye and introduces it’s old friend Autumn, I don’t worry. Oh no, that’s when fake tan comes back into my life. Boy oh boy have I used many fake tans, some have been good, some have been bad. Very bad. I’ve been on a quest for the perfect fake tan, one that makes you go a nice natural colour and lasts for a good while before going all patchy. I found a pretty good gem in Xen Tan’s Dark Lotion last winter, but when you’re obsessed with beauty, you just want more. You want that perfect product, so I took the plunge and bought the mysterious older sister of Dark Lotion. The Absolute Luxe Dark Lotion, why they couldn’t of made that name a bit snappier I don’t know. I’d always been put of by the price of this, full retail price is £39.99 and well that’s enough to make your eyes water. Luckily I got it when it was in the Feel Unique summer sale and was a snip at £23.99. Still pretty pricey but I have found that spending a few extra pennies can be worth it when it comes to tan.
Example of the funny green colour and me wearing the tan 🙂
I was really excited to apply this for the first time, so excited I forgot to photograph it (whoops bad beauty blogger.) However when I started to apply it, I was a bit alarmed, it was pale green. I was like whaaat? I was expecting a dark brown gel that would give you a guide colour so you’d know where you’d tanned. This pale green lotion did make it quite hard to see if you’d missed a bit and I wasn’t convinced for one second that it was actually going to turn out dark. I went to bed, eagerly awaiting how it’d turn out in the morning. Luckily I was overjoyed with the results, I woke up with a really nice dark olive tan, in fact I didn’t look like I had a fake tan, I just looked like I’d just stepped off a plane from Miami. I was so pleased, I’ve always wanted a natural looking tan, and think I may of found it. Also it keeps it’s colour really well, it lasts for a good six days before starting to fade and then about seven days when it goes all patchy on your wrists. Overall I am really pleased with this tan, it also has a nice vanilla smell so you don’t even feel like you’re putting a tan on.
I do have a gripe with this tan and it’s a tiny one so do not fear, one thing I have to say is that it’s very hard to work into your skin. It’s got a very thick texture like clay so I find the best way is to apply with my hands and then wash them straight after! You literally have to really rub it in, so much that after my arms feel all achy and I expect to wake up like Jodie Marsh the next morning.
Yes this tan is pretty pricey and I don’t think it’s worth £39.99 but it’s definitely worth picking up on like Feel Unique. It’s great for those who tan naturally as this looks really natural which I love. If you love being tanned like me, then I’d maybe try it out. It is coming up to Christmas soon, so maybe pop it on that list to Santa 😉 I hope you’re all good 🙂 I’ve got a day off tomorrow which I’m really looking forward too! Hope you’re all having a great week 🙂
