Of course deep down I like to pretend I’m Millie Mackintosh, I like to think I have an endless amount of money but in reality I don’t. As much as I’d love to buy the whole of the John Lewis beauty hall, my bank balance would weep forever, so a lot of the time I try to stick to the budget with of course the occasional naughty purchase here and there. However lately high street brands have been bringing out some amazing products meaning we can look good and still get change from a ten pound note. Winner winner chicken dinner. One of my current favourite drugstore/high street brands is Rimmel London. Rimmel has a bit of a special place in my heart as it’s a make up brand I have grown up with. When I was 12 and my Mum gave me £20 to spend on make up on Boots to start my make up collection, most of it went on Rimmel products. One product I remember very clearly from my teenage years was the ‘hide the blemish’ concealer. Horrifically unhygienic but that was what I carried round with me in my school bag when I was 13. Fast forward almost ten years later, Rimmel is still impressing me and recently have upped their game. This time of year is always a tight one for money, so I thought what a good time to let you all know some amazing budget buys.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer: This is the concealer that is currently in my handbag, I use it for under my eyes and any unexpected blemishes that pop up during the day. It wakes me eyes up and has pretty good coverage. Not bad for a drugstore concealer!
Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner: Nude and Black: I fell out of love with kohl eyeliner as I could never find ones that lasted all day. However the new scandaleyes eyeliner are pretty darn good. I like the nude one for waking my eyes up in the morning and helping to neutralise any redness. The black is super pigmented and great for adding to the waterline. Now it’s winter, I’m getting back into eyeliner again, I like to team it with a tan and a smokey eye and pretend I’m Jasmine from Aladdin. The black stays on for a pretty long time and only needs quick top ups during the day. Not bad for £3.99.
Rimmel Kate Moss 107 Lipstick: This is a gorgeous deep wine matte lip colour, it’s perfect for winter and is uber flattering. It’s really pigmented, smells amazing and lasts a long time on your lippy lips. I’m not sure how it would fair under the mistletoe so maybe be careful with that one. A nice drugstore lipstick though that I will be wearing this party season with a smokey eye and lots of contouring.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: This is another product from my youth, it’s easily one of the best face powders I’ve used. It eradicates shine but doesn’t make you look powdery or cakey which is a make up pet peeve of mine! This is always in my handbag to powder my nose when it gets a bit shiny through the day.
So there we have it, my current favourite cheap make up buys from Rimmel. Next time you’re in Boots/Superdrug check out the Rimmel stand, you never know you might just find a make up gem 🙂
