Now and then, I will happily splash my cash on high end products. But if I’m honest, I will probably always be a drugstore girl at heart. I usually spend many lunchtimes (and most of my wages) on the counters of Boots and Superdrug. Heck many a time a security guard has stalked me, I’ve spent so much time deliberating over nail polish. I want to say, ‘don’t worry, I will be paying for this.’ I’ll come out with a hand stained by swatches and a bag full of stuff I didn’t intend to buy. Sometimes you will find some duff items, but other times you will find some right gems. Currently I have re-discovered and discovered some pretty darn good drugstore products and I just have to share them with you.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation: This foundation, I originally tried about a year ago. It was okay, didn’t wow me though and I basically popped it in a box and forgot about it. A few weeks ago, my sister came to visit and when I asked what foundation she was wearing. It was Rimmel’s Wake Me Up foundation, spurred on by seeing how nice it looked, I dug it out. I think what initially put me off, was the fact it was the completely wrong shade for me. It was too pink toned for me, I would resemble a salmon when wearing it. I went and got a another shade, and I think I got one two shades lighter and boy what a difference that made. Ever since I’ve not stopped wearing it, in a nutshell it’s a glowy, medium coverage foundation. It almost has shimmer particles in to give you a glowy look but without the grease. Being a oily skinned girl, this helps to give you the right amount of dewyiness. The coverage is medium but totally build able, I tend to put a base on with my fingers to give a more natural look, I’ll then put a small amount on my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and put that on any areas that need extra coverage. I find that when I powder a couple of times through the day, this foundations lasts all day. I have to say I am suitably impressed and very happy to have found a glowy foundation that’s under £10!
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer: I’ve already spoke about this concealer on here before, but it really is a brilliant under eye concealer. I’m pretty sure I have the shade two, as it’s got a peachy undertone. This undertone is great for counteracting the darkness of dark circles. It also has a high coverage so you can brighten and cover up at the same time. I’d find this too orange for anywhere else on my skin, but I really do love using this concealer under my eyes.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer: This is a cult beauty blogger concealer, in fact I can probably guarantee that you have one of these in your make up collection. This is my third tube of the stuff, it’s medium/’full coverage and great for dabbing on blemishes. I tend to pop this on and then dot it on with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. It covers up any redness, pesky spots, or marks I may have. I’ve even shunned my Estee Lauder Double Wear Max as this concealer does enough of a good job by itself. That my friends is high praise.
L’oreal Superliner Perfect Slim: This eyeliner looks like a Sharpie pen. I’m not going to lie, I did buy it partly for that very reason. I have to say though, this ain’t no Sharpie pen, it’s just a damn good eyeliner. L’oreal do good liquid eyeliners, and this one is a winner in my books. The felt tip pen makes lining your lashline super easy, it’s really pigmented and it lasts all day long. One thing I’m worried about it how long it lasts before it dries out, but obviously I’ll keep you posted with that one.
