Like I’ve mentioned before, as soon as I see that round yellow ball in the sky, my make up suddenly changes. In goes the heavier coverage foundations, away goes the dark smokey eye shadows and out comes the brighter colours. Mainly I swap nudes for brights on my lips, my blue eyeshadow days are long gone alongside the pedal pushers I used to love. Tammy girl for the win. When it’s a really hot day though or when you’re on holiday, you don’t want your make up to feel heavy and caked on. With lip products, I want them to be light, not sticky and add a bit of colour to my look. Well if you’re anything like me you’re going to love these new Color Boost lip crayon’s from Bourjois*.
Swatches of Color Boost: Left Orange Punch, Right Peach on the Beach
As part of Bourjois Summer 2013 collection, we have four gorgeously bright lip crayons which give the likes of Clinque’s Chubby Stick a run for their money. The four shades vary from a summery red, a cool toned pink, a zesty orange and a pinky coral which are perfect for adding that much needed summer colour to our lips. They’re described as smooth, colourful and shiny and even have a SPF of 15 included too. The finish of the Color Boost’s are glossy but not sticky, the colour is pigmented but it can be layered for a brighter look and although the colour doesn’t stick around for too long a time, they do leave a subtle tint on your lips.
I have the colours Orange Punch and Peach on The Beach, two colours which are so up my street. Orange Punch is the brighter of the two, a red toned orange which is very this season, one slick is enough for me, but you can build it up for a really bright look. I love this colour with really simple bronzed make up, it’s a perfect holiday colour. Peach on the Beach is my current everyday colour, a pinky coral which isn’t too far away from the shade of my favourite YSL Peach passion lipstick. It’s one of those colours which I think would be flattering on anyone and it’s definitely a new favourite of mine.
The Color Boost lip crayons should be in Boots/Superdrug by now, I saw them in my local boots yesterday! They should retail at the price of £7.99 but if there’s a introductory offer or a 3 for 2 I would definitely recommend picking a couple of these up. I know that they won’t be far from my side for the rest of the summer!!
