New Spring Hair

So I’m a bit unadventurous when it comes to my hair, I see it as a safety blanket and I have rarely ever changed it up. I doubt I’ll ever chop it off or dye it a crazy colour, but over the past few months I have been a bit more daring. First of all I chopped off a few inches more than usual, my super long hair was so hard to manage and maintain, and then I decided I wanted to do something with the colour. I’ve experimented with darker hair, and even red hair. Five points to you, if you’ve been reading my blog long enough to remember my quest for red hair! But I’ve wanted to go lighter lately and especially with Spring on the way and my impending holiday, I wanted to change up my hair a little.

I went to Rush in Southampton for my colour change, and I went in armed with photos, Dan was my colourist and he instantly put me at ease. I have to say that I find the hairdressers scarier than any dentist so it was great to feel relaxed and with a colourist who knew what he was doing. After me making him sit through my entire album of hair inspiration, we decided to go for an almost ombre with, some highlights in the top. I didn’t want loads of highlights in the top as I didn’t want to worry about roots. Dan bleached my hair to lift the colour, he did this using foils and left it to develop for about 40 minutes. I was totally pampered whilst being in Rush, I was given magazines, drinks, biscuits and felt totally chilled. Once my hair was cooked, Lauren took me for it to be washed and then toned down using a L’oreal professional Mocha toner, which Dan said would calm down the blonde and make it more natural. The mocha was to give a sun kissed look and make it more subtle rather than a harsh brassy blonde.

After a natter with Lauren who was also lovely, and an amazing scalp massage, I was ready for my blow dry. Dan blow dried my hair using big round brushes to create a big and wavy effect! How I wish I could blow dry my hair that way! My hair had Keratese products used on it, that made it feel so soft! The finished result left me with glossy, slightly lightened hair. I’m pretty pleased with my hair, as I didn’t want to have too much of a dramatic colour change, I’m already thinking about going lighter though and will probably book back in with Dan in a couple of months time! Hopefully you guys will notice the difference and like my slightly lighter new locks 🙂 Have you been prepping your hair for Spring?

*I went to Rush in Southampton for my hair colour, Rush are celebrating their 20th anniversary this June, and the Southampton salon celebrated it’s 4th birthday a little while ago. My hair treatment was complimentary from Rush, but I would of paid the full treatment price as the stylists were all so lovely and professional 🙂
