So when the postman delivered all the latest summer releases from Barry M, my eyes were instantly drawn to three silver lipsticks. Hey what can I say, I am a magpie. Three new lipsticks have been added to the already vast collection of Barry M lipsticks, but these are a new twist on the usual lip paints. These are Stain Paints, there’s three shades and I’ll warn you now, they’re not for the faint hearted. Being a nude girl (lipstick, nude lipstick, get your mind out of the gutter) through and through, I will admit these did make me a feel a bit nervous when I first saw them. But I needn’t have, because although these are really, really bright, they are such lovely summery colours, I may even brave to wear one out of the house one day 😉
(cracking up at these photos, I obviously thought I was Cara Delevigne whilst taking these photos)
So we have the three shades, a fuchsia bright pink (Infinite Pink) a bright coral red ( Eternal Coral) and finally a deep vampy wine (Absolute Burgundy) now these aren’t completely matte, they have a bit of a shine on them meaning they aren’t drying on your lips, but are still matte enough to be fashionable if that makes sense. They are claimed to stain the lips for long lasting colour, in fact so long that Barry M repeated the word a whopping three times in the description. Now I will give that these hang round for a while, but I wouldn’t say long x3 , maybe long x1. I tested these out over the space of one afternoon and evening, which Henry found most amusing, he kept saying “your lips are just so bright.’ After eating, and drinking with these within a couple of hours, the bright in your face colour had gone but I was left with a tint. I imagine the colour would stay longer without eating or drinking but then what fun would that be? When I went to bed that night about eight hours after applying, there was definitely a tint still on my lips and I did have to use make up remover to remove it. So whilst a tint of colour will last all night, that real wham bam thank you mam colour will only last a couple of hours or so.
You will need a steady hand when applying these, and you do need to keep a mirror handy, as these are probably the type of lipsticks that may transfer on your chin if you don’t watch them! Overall, if you’re after a bright lipstick that are very similar to a couple from MAC, go grab one of these and at under a fiver, your purse will be happy as well as your lips.
