We all love a bit of luxury in our lives right? Although most of the time I am on a shoe string budget, I do enjoy a splurge every so often, and nothing fills me with glee more than a spend in the beauty hall.
There’s just something about high end beauty halls, the bright lights, the various whiffs of perfume that leave you slightly delirious and the flawless sales assistant who slightly scare you but you also kind of want to make your friend. The Charlotte Tilbury stand in Selfridges is possibly one of my favourite beauty counters, I went there with my friend Sarah a couple of weeks ago, and we literally went round oohing and aahing at everything in sight. We left with a hand full of swatches and talking about what we wanted to buy next time.
Recently, I’ve been very lucky to add to my CT make up collection. I know it’s a luxury brand and some items are quite expensive so I thought I’d give you the lowdown on what I’ve tried so far and whether it’s worth the splurge or not.
Filmstar Bronze & Glow: This was my Christmas present to myself in the Selfridges Christmas sale, saving myself a whopping 15%. Wahoo. I closed my eyes whilst processing the order trying to ignore the Lizzie McGuire type person of myself shouting ‘ YOU PAID HOW MUCH FOR A BRONZER?’ Truth be told, I love this palette. It’s essentially bronzer and highlighter but I find it’s the perfect tone for my skin, it warms up my skin giving me a sun kissed glow and helps to contour my face. The highlighter is a champagne powder, which adds a glow to your cheek bones. I don’t think this palette is for everyone, if you’re super pale it probably won’t rock your socks off, or maybe not if you perhaps like a real deep bronzer. My advice, is to go swatch it if you can, or if you’re like me and obsessed with bronzing, highlighting and trying to be a Kardhasian/Jenner you’ll probably like this.
The Luxury Palette- Golden Goddess– This quad palette was one of my first purchases when the brand was first released. Neutral eye shadows with glitter? I’m in. I went for the shade Golden Goddess with has four colours ranging from a champagne pale pink, taupe brown, glittery golden brown and warm golden brown. I have to say, as much as I do love this product, I do wish there was a dark more pigmented colour in the quad. I love the glitter shadow, which doesn’t fall out on me and really adds a special effect to your make up. However I do know that a lot of people find the glitter irritating so if you have sensitive eyes this might not be the best for you. However, the shadows are buttery and pigmented and are really lovely to use. The palette Dolce Vita has been on my wish list for a very long time as it seems the perfect Autumnal eye palette – thinking ahead here.
Full Fat Lashes Mascara*- A recent newbie to my CT collection is the signature mascara from the range. Now I won’t lie, mascara’s don’t tend to impress me that much. I think it’s because I’ve never found my holy grail mascara that I just really love. This is a good mascara though, it makes your lashes long, black and thick which is exactly what you want from a mascara. However my only gripe? With the current warmer weather that we have been having, I have noticed that when things get a little sweaty (lovely) my mascara will smudge onto my lower lash line which is a little annoying when sometimes you don’t have a mirror handy and you’ve been walking round with smudges. However, although this might not be the best product for the summer, I’ll re try with it in Autumn and see how we go. If this was waterproof, it would be pretty perfect though!
Eyes To Mesmerise- Bette & Veruschka* –These are two new additions to Charlotte’s range. A cream shadow pot, these are the ultimate luxury eye shadow. They look luxurious, and even feel dreamy, and the colours are metallic meaning you can create a seriously stunning eye look. I have two shades which are Bette which is a golden copper which is so, so pretty. I love this as it looks so stunning and you can wear it on it’s own too, I imagine this would look amazing with blue eyes! I then have Veruschka which is a golden green which is usually a colour I wouldn’t wear, but this creates an amazing smokey eye and compliments my brown eyes. These are so easy to use, a little goes a long way and you literally can just apply and you’re good to go. Don’t need to add any colours, it’s a very easy one product eye look. I really like these though and I’m going to look into the other colours from the range! They also don’t crease on me and last all day too 🙂
Colour Chameleon – Golden Quartz and Amber Haze- These two pencils were part of my first purchase from CT too! I was so intrigued by these pencils which are to help enhance your eye colour with the help of synthetic sapphire. I went for Golden Quartz which is for hazel eyes as I really loved the colour, and thought that my eyes are near enough hazel. I also got Amber Haze which is for brown eyes and is more of a daytime look. It’s a warm golden copper which is so pretty! These pencils are so, so long lasting that you needn’t worry about them smudging or fading. I do find that my eyes look browner and darker when I use these and they create an amazing smokey eye. I love these and have always been tempted by the shade Champagne Diamonds even though it’s for blue eyes, cause it’s just so pretty!
K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick- Nude Kate*- Apologies if this brings you to my page and you were looking for nude pics of Kate Middleton/Moss (go hang your head in shame you) anyways this nude lipstick has always been on my wish list ever since the beginning of CT. These lipsticks first of all, literally have the prettiest packaging I have ever seen, it reminds me of the make up I would see on my Nan’s dressing table when I was little. This is a nude beige which is just perfect for pairing with a seriously smokey eye. It’s not too concealer like and is a really lovely day to day lipstick look. Celebrities such as Michelle Keegan (babe) and Kim Kardashian love this colour so y’know in good company here. These lipsticks also feature a special ingredient called The Lipstick Tree which is top secret but helps to protect your lips from harmful UV rays, keeps them plump and moisturised! I love using this lipstick though, and it’s one of my most reached for at the moment!
Rock n Kohl Eyeliner – Bedroom Black & Veruschka Mink* –omg let’s just start with the fact that these are possibly my favourite pencil eyeliners ever. I have always had trouble finding a good eyeliner for the waterline that doesn’t smudge and actually lasts all day! Well.. I have finally found it. Okay so not the cheapest but definitely worth it. Bedroom Black is a dark pigmented black, which is perfect for putting in the waterline and staying there. The perfect accompaniment to a smokey eye which can be built up from a gentle line, to seriously smokey eyes. Veruschka Mink is a grey/green colour which is perfect for lining the waterline for the daytime and you want something a little softer than black. I love these so much for the pigmentation and the staying power. Definite thumbs up from me.
Goddess Skin Clay Mask*– Again a relatively new addition to the CT line, this clay mask is set to help keep your skin moisturised, tighten pores and clear imperfections. Sounds perfect right? Now this isn’t an inexpensive mask, no it’s pretty expensive. Personally for the price, I’m not sure if this is for me. I think this mask would work on perhaps slightly more mature skin than mine, I think if you suffer from dry dehydrated skin and want to prevent ageing then I think this would probably work rally well for you. It’s a lovely mask which feels very luxurious and my skin always looked very radiant and clear after using it, but if you’re like me who wants something to help with congestion and oiliness this might not be worth the splurge. However, I am sure that the CT counters would give you a sample if you asked, so might be worth getting a sample to see how you get on.
Lip Cheat Lip Liner- Pillow Talk- Probably one of the most talked about products from the CT range, this lip liner is one that I am sure you will find in most beauty bloggers make up bags, but for good reason too. This lip liner is one of my favourites, it’s so easy to use, the colour is the perfect pink that is literally your lips but a million times better and helps to make your lips look plumper. In fact, I love this pencil so much I have a tiny bit left now, so I need to restock soon, but this is so pretty and it’s one of my go to lip pencils when I want a little lift in the lip department. You needn’t worry though as this won’t turn you into Kylie Jenner, but just helps to accentuate your natural lip beauty and also it lasts all day long too!
Phew and that is my Charlotte Tilbury collection, I also have the bar of gold but didn’t see the point in talking about that as it was a limited edition and didn’t want to be a tease! But anyways, I would recommend the Charlotte Tilbury range, cheap it isn’t but Charlotte knows her stuff and has created a range of really lovely products. Her eye products are amazing and take into account eye colour which is great. I want to try some more of her base stuff soon, thinking her Light Wonder foundation, oh and also I have a new powder from her Norman Parkinson range which I’m currently trying out so I’ll report back soon! Hope you enjoyed this brand focus post and let me know if there’s another brand you’d like me to focus on next!
So tell me, what’s your favourite Charlotte Tilbury product?
