I always think that I know that I am getting older by what I get excited by. It used to be about nail polish and make up (though that does still make me giddy) but these days it seems that I am a bit of a magpie when it comes to homeware. Candles, ornaments, bedding that’s my jam. Bring me a new fluffy towel or bedside lamp and it’s like Christmas. Come on, I can’t be the only one right?
So when we moved house, I was like ‘RIGHT, I AM BUYING ALL THE THINGS.’ But then I restrained myself, but I have added a few new additions to our house, and I have to say, I’m pretty chuffed with them. Can we also talk about the fact that no one says chuffed anymore, is it cause it sounds slightly rude? Or is that just me turning everything into an innuendo again? Anyway, lets not talked about chuffed lets talk about these new homeware buys that make me feel all heart eye emoji like which is rather nice.
You can probably tell from my selection that right now, I am digging metallics, well not technically but like in the house, I’m obsessed with them. I feel like they add a little bit of luxury and well it just so happens that a lot of homeware shops feel the same so that’s good that we are on a telepathic level. As I’ve mentioned before and tbh probably every other blogger has, H&M home is one of my fave places to get bits and bobs without big price tags. I also always find that everything is always bigger than you imagine, for example all the candles I ordered, I didn’t think would be so big. So that was a nice surprise, cause there is nothing worse than ordering online and when it arrives it looks like it should belong in the house of The Borrowers.
First of all in my H&M order was this gold basket, this I imagined living in the bathroom and having it hold all my bath bombs, however, it doesn’t quite fit on the bathroom shelf. Also after not realising just how pink the bathroom was and after an unfortunate incident with a spider the size of my actual fist in the bath (not even kidding) I have been a little wary of using that bathroom. This literally sounds so Paris Hilton of me, but I always feel like that spider is out to get me now, and tbh I’ll be glad when move in a few months time to escape the scary bathroom. PLEASE tell me I am not the only adult who has been wary of a room before, you’ve got to have had a spider incident at some point too right? Anyway, the gold basket will be kept for our next house where hopefully it can live out it’s ambition of holding Lush bath bombs. For now, I’ve popped it in my office and have put all my camera stuff in it, which is actually quite handy. It holds SD cards, remotes, batteries, etc… and it’s quite useful to have it all in one place so when I’m talking photos or filming I can just reach for it and everything I need is in there.
I also got this silver candle from H&M home to put in our living room, I haven’t lit it yet, but it’s peony scented (which between me and you doesn’t really smell of much) and is a pretty cool vase, I quite like it next to our fireplace at the moment. I did buy a few other things from H&M home for the bedroom and you can see them in this post here.
Whilst we are talking about candles, I was very excited to be sent The White Company’s latest release in candle and reed diffuser form. I may have squealed a little when I received an email from them, because lately I feel that The White Company just gets me. The scent is Lime & Bay and it’s blooming lovely (and I’m not even just saying that cause I want to keep in their good books) I love a tropical scent, and due to me bulk buying Christmas candles, it’s a nice break from gingerbread and cinnamon to have a fresh citrus scent. It’s a mixture of; pink grapefruit, bergamot, lime, ginger, orange and many more. I really love it though, and imagine it will be a perfect summer fragrance if that makes sense? The reed diffuser is sitting proudly in our dining room, which after serving Christmas dinner in on Christmas day has now always slightly smelt of vegetables (lovely) so I am hoping that this may help make the room smell all lovely and tropical and less like broccoli.
Next we have this Love sign from West Elm which is something that I have been deliberating over for a couple of months now, I couldn’t justify the price before we moved and then one day over Christmas I literally thought ‘Sod it, let’s treat myself.’ I love it and it’s to put on my desk, as I’ve had a little change up in there, and even though it’s a bit pricey, I’m pretty happy with it!
I can’t take credit for these gold spot glasses, as my sister spotted them in ASDA of all places and sent me a snapchat to which I responded, ‘YOU HAVE TO BUY ME THOSE AND I’LL PAY YOU BACK’. ( I did use actual caps cause I was that excited- told you I was sad getting excited over stuff like glasses.) In the dining room, I have made a little drinks cart and was looking for some cool glasses to have on display. These were just perfect, and were £2.50 each. What a barg. They’re quite Kate Spade I have decided, and Asda I bow down to you.
I also got a couple of books over Christmas, this book by Garance Dore is what I like to call a ‘coffee table book’ I am aiming to get a coffee table at some point, so this will proudly take place when we do get one. I am yet to read it but I will soon and I am hoping that ‘Love, Style, Life’ turns me into a chic sophisticated woman… hey a girl can dream right?
Ah I was so busy waffling that I hadn’t realised that was the last thing on my little homeware list, I have gone a bit crazy with prints recently, but I’m going to dedicate a whole post to prints if that’s okay. I have one that has just arrived that I am a little bit in love with, I’m going to get some string to hang it up and then I’ll blog about it asap!
For now, I’m gonna stop rambling about homeware cause you’re probably ready to fall asleep right now, ( I remember this one time
at band camp at the end of a really long post that someone had commented ‘oh my what a boring long post zzzzzzzzzz’ and I don’t know why but it really tickled me. I like to think that their cat hopped onto the keyboard which is why there was so many zzzzzz’s but hey there we go, can’t please everyone can ya?) But let me know your fave homeware places, I recently stumbled upon Oliver Bonas’s site the other day, let me tell you that was a deadly decision. Nah I’m just kidding, I’m now on full saving operation mode after learning how much weddings are and that we’ll be moving soon. My purse is firmly closed.
