Hey you guys,
Hope you’ve all had a good week, today I want to kick off some new style posts which hopefully you’ll like, and we’re going to start with ‘Three Ways To Style A Denim Skirt’ and you may be thinking ‘hardly rocket science’- I know. But I’ve always loved simple dressing, and when I was thinking the other week about what to blog about, I thought about what I’d like to read on someone’s blog, and this kind of guide to dressing simple is what I’d like to see. I’m not a cool person or someone who has a huge disposable income (yay for planning a wedding) so I keep things on a budget, and try to buy things that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of.
I know, I am literally like a Grandma. I even question ‘how will this item wash’ when I buy things so I am officially 86.
Anyways, I’ve always loved doing outfit posts, but I lost my confidence a little when someone commented on an outfit post saying ‘I love you Corrie but’- (whenever there’s a I love you but… you know it’s going to be bad) ‘your outfit posts are always the same. It’s really boring.’ I guess it struck a nerve, because I know my outfits are pretty boring, and I’m not one of those cool fashion bloggers, but recently I thought to myself- that’s okay.
We’re all different, and whether you can pull off amazing fashion, or can afford high end pieces that’s great, but it’s also okay if you can’t. So I know, I’m totally rambling and going off topic as usual, but I thought I’d start an almost series of posts where I feature my most worn items and how I style them.
I’m thinking things such as my ripped jeans, my vans, my leather jacket, etc… you never know it might give you some outfit inspo, but I want my blog to be real, and feature the stuff I love and do actually wear, so why not feature the items that I wear all the time, regardless of how boring they are.
So I hope those 5 paragraphs made sense, and hopefully you guys like these posts.
Okay so enough waffling on, today I wanted to kick things off with one of my most worn items this Summer- the humble denim skirt. I wanted to show three ways that I’ve been wearing it, and thought I’d try and make the most of it before Autumn officially arrives.
The Denim Skirt
So I have been living in two denim skirts, a blue denim one from Primark and then this one from Miss Selfridge which I love. It fits so well, and will even last through A/W as well, as I imagine this will look great with tights and boots! So let’s see what I’ve been wearing with this skirt…
1. The Sweatshirt
So I am going to be doing a whole post on sweatshirts (yes really) but I thought I’d include it in this post too, as you can’t beat a good old sweatshirt. I’ve been living in sweatshirts since the weather recently has been a bit hit and miss, so having something to throw over the top is always a good idea. I have my eye on a few sweatshirts from Missguided right now, but this one from Primark isn’t bad for a fiver. It’s snuggly, has that almost vintage American feel to it as well. I love how casual this outfit is, though it definitely makes me feel like I’m back at college. But I think the sweatshirt is majorly overlooked, though another post to come on that another day.
2. The Band Tee
Looking back on these photos, I am not sure if I am cool enough for the band tee look, as hard as I try haha. Anyways, whether it’s a band tee or just a simple tee, it makes a pretty easy but fail safe outfit. Pair with a belt and you are good to go.
3. The Coloured Jacket
Okay so say hello to my new obsession, this pink denim jacket from Miss Selfridge. It makes me feel about 10x sassier than normal, and gives me major 90s Clueless vibes. I love this outfit, a pink jacket, white tee and the skirt, again so easy to wear, but I love how it all ties together. I think I’ll be trying to wear this outfit as much as possible before the Autumnal weather sets in!
So there are three ways that I’ve been wearing denim skirts at the moment, I’m excited for Autumn to pair it with tights, boots and turtlenecks.
Let me know how you style up denim skirts, and if there’s any other things you’d like to see me style on my blog soon!
But for now, I need to go get ready for the gym, speak soon! 🙂
