I realised the other day that pretty much all of my 2018 goals are related to work or blogging. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realised the importance of working on yourself, and I sat down last week and made a list of goals that I want to work on this year and I didn’t want any of them to be related to work. I posted about my blogging goals and resolutions for 2018 which you can see here, but I really wanted to keep working on myself this year, and that was something I’d initially forgotten about at the start of the year when making a list of goals.
After all, this year, I don’t want to just achieve things through work, as our lives shouldn’t have to revolve completely around work right? So today, I thought I’d share my personal goals for 2018, and maybe it will inspire you to do so too.
Let me know what your goals are for 2018 that aren’t work/blogging related…
So let’s begin :
Read More : I’ve decided I want to read more. I do love reading but always say I never have enough time, which is a lie, cause I have more than enough time to mindlessly scroll through Instagram or Twitter. I’ve signed up to Kindle Unlimited and I’ve charged my kindle up and have decided I’m going to start reading before bed. Yes I know, I sound 80, but I thought it would probably be a good thing to have a bit of a break from my phone screen before sleeping, and so far, it’s working. I’ve always said I’ve wanted to read the Harry Potter books as I never read them all as a child, and always felt I missed out haha. So I go to bed and read my book, and I feel like I’m 10 again reading Harry Potter, but hey, whatever! Let me know if you have any book recommendations!
Take More Photos (& Not Just For Instagram) : I want to get out of that mindset of taking photos just for Instagram and setting up the perfect pose. I’ve decided that I want to take more pictures on my Polaroid camera and save them and put them in a book maybe. I also want to post more real photos on social media, maybe less posed photos and showing you more of a real insight into me and my life.
Spend More Time Offline : I can be quite addicted to my phone, it’s the last thing I check at night, the first thing in the morning and sometimes I can find myself getting overwhelmed by all the views and opinions and that can make my head feel like a computer with too many tabs open. So I want to spend more time offline (especially in the evenings and weekends), I also want to stop spending so much time on Instagram, and social media during the day as it’s really not helping my productivity levels!
Change Up My Workouts : I’ve got into a bit of a fixed routine with my workouts and I do want to build more confidence in the gym, so I think I’ll do this by changing things up a little. For example, I want to do more free weights in the gym (and work on my bum!) I also want to keep increasing my weights. I was so proud of myself last year and the progress I made with my weights, and want to keep going with this, nothing makes me prouder when I increase my weights, considering I used to be such a weakling!
I think that’s it for now, but I’ve already made progress, like I said above, I’ve already signed up to Kindle unlimited and have started reading before bed which is actually making me sleep better so that’s really good 🙂
Do you have any goals for this year that are more personal rather than work based?
