It’s been three years since I last visited the city that doesn’t sleep, and I’m itching to hop on a plane and go back.
I never expected to love New York City as much as I did, I remember the first time we visited, on that first day, we walked around feeling very bleary and jet lagged and I remember thinking how noisy and big it was.
But after my second visit, I would love to visit again and after looking back on some of my photos from our last trip, it got me thinking about why I love the big apple so much, and maybe it will inspire you if you’re going to NYC soon.
The Food :
The food is always a highlight of any America trip for me and especially NYC. The New York pizza is amazing, this is our fave pizza place but I think you’ll never be stuck for good pizza in New York. We loved Little Italy and had some amazing pasta there, then there’s the breakfasts, stacks of pancakes and french toast and iced coffee as big as your head! There’s just so much to choose from, and I feel like we didn’t really experiment enough the last times we went, I have a list on my notes of places I want to visit for food next time we go haha.
Maybe I love NYC so much because it reminds me of such happy times, three years ago it was where we got engaged (see our proposal video here
) and that whole week was such a happy little bubble, and maybe that’s why I’ll always hold NYC very closely to my heart.
Things To Do :
We may have been twice, but there’s still so much we want to in NYC. I feel like we have done all of the tourist things now, so want to explore neighbour hoods like Greenwich, Soho and Brooklyn more. But there’s so much to do you could never ever be bored, from the touristy things like going up the rock, an open bus tour and visiting the statue of liberty, to shopping in soho, walking in central park and doing tours like the Gossip Girl
or Sex And The City
Not That Far Away :
It’s not like a hop on the plane to Spain thing but NYC isn’t too far from the UK, it’s about 7 hours which isn’t too bad, so you could totally go for a long weekend, which definitely makes it feel a bit more accessible and making me want to visit more!
We did quite a lot of shopping the last tome we went, and it was great to explore some different shopping areas, soho was great for shopping and our hotel was near this road which had so many amazing shops on. The shops are so big in NYC and the Sephora’s are something else. I also love a good drugstore and could spend many hours pursuing the make up in CVS! And of course stuff is slightly cheaper over there – woo!
The Vibe :
I don’t even know if I can describe this properly, but NYC has this vibe that I love. Yes it’s busy and loud but I love it, the sirens and traffic almost make you feel at home and it just feels full of life and excitement. I can’t really describe it but if you’ve been, you’ll know. I’ll never forget this one afternoon we spent in Central Park, it was a Sunday and we sat on this grass bank with some lunch and this guy was playing music from the 1940’s/1950’s and it was such a lovely chilled atmosphere and I almost felt like I lived there for a second. It will always be one of my favourite Sunday afternoons.
I probably haven’t even done NYC any justice, but I do love the city and would love to visit sometime again soon.
Have you ever been to NYC before? What did you love about it?
