Christmas is over, which means that my evenings of watching Christmas films are over. Sob.
However, although, I’m a little bit devastated that Christmas 24 has moved back to Movies 24 on Sky, I’ve also found some new things to watch that have been filling that festive shaped hole left in my life.
Today, I thought I’d share these with you, as I think you’ll like them as much as me, and well January can be a bit of a duff month, so it’s quite nice to have something good to watch!
First up is You which is on Netflix, a thriller which I think most people have watched over the Christmas period. However if you haven’t watched this yet, I’d totally recommend doing so, as it’s so gripping! It features Penn Badgley aka Dan Humphrey, and is all about Joe (Dan Humphrey) who becomes let’s just say quite ‘obsessed’ with Beck, a girl he meets at his work. It’s only 10 episodes and we watched it over three nights. It was really gripping and you wanted to see what happened next. The ending left me in shock to be honest, but it was so good! It’s a bit creepy but not creepy creepy, but a good watch, and will definitely leave you wondering whether to delete all your a social media apps and making sure your curtains are always closed.
The Good Place
So now something completely different ; The Good Place. Also on Netflix, and is a very easy watch, the episodes are super short so perfect to watch and not lose hours to. It’s funny, and requires little to no thinking. It cracks me up and is a super easy thing to put on when I’m eating lunch, etc… The first season is the best, but is very light, so might be good to watch after watching You haha.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
We watched this around Halloween time, which was the perfect time to watch this Sabrina the teenage witch remake on Netflix. It’s definitely a bit creepy, but manageable and I’m a total baby with scary things. I won’t lie, some of it is a little jumpy and I did go ‘AGGGGHHH’ a couple of times, but I am a complete wuss. But both me and Henry really enjoyed this, and can’t wait for season 2. Even though it’s based around a teenager, it doesn’t feel really young, and you can get lost in it as it’s obviously very different to real life. Really enjoyed this though and would thoroughly recommend if you’re looking for something to completely distract you! Also Aunt Hilda is amazing 🙌🏻
This is perfect for any of my fellow Gossip Girl fans, as this will help to fill the hole left behind by Blair and Serena almost 7 years ago! This is one of those totally ridiculous programmes, but is also amazing. It’s based around the Carrington’s a super rich family from Atlanta. Some of the storylines are something else, but it’s easy to watch and the outfits and aesthetics are so good! I’m obsessed with Fallon Carrington- her eyeliner is on point!
The Marvellous Mrs Maisel
I’ve seen this advertised so much over the past year but just ignored it as thought it didn’t seem up my street. Well that was until I saw it was by the same writers as Gilmore Girls (which you know is one of my faves) so I thought I’d give this a go. I’ve not finished it yet, but I thought I’d recommend it as I’m really enjoying it so far. It’s set in the 1950’s and is based around Miriam Maisel who’s husband has just decided to leave her. It’s funny, the fashion is amazing and I can’t wait to see where it goes. It’s another one of those where you can tell it’s not very real, so you just get lost in it, which I’m really liking at the moment. But definitely worth a try, it’s on Amazon prime.
The Bold Type
I know that I’ve spoken about The Bold Type before, but I’m going to mention it again because it you’ve not watched it yet, you need to. It’s perfect for girls our age, and features real things that us twenty somethings go through. It’s empowering, motivating and inspiring so a perfect watch for January. Seriously one of my fave watches from 2018, so please go watch it!
Okay so that is it for now, please let me know in the comments what you’re watching at the moment, I think I might try Killing Eve soon as heard a lot of good things about that too!
What are you watching right now?
